Abundant Housing Atlanta

Yes to People. Yes to Housing. Yes In ATL.

Serving the Atlanta Metro Area

Past actions

We bring Atlantans together to advocate for more homes and for better policies that will make our city more affordable and welcoming to all. Through petitions, public outreach, and direct engagement with city officials, we’ve supported new housing across Atlanta. Here are some of our past campaigns.

Support Affordable Housing on the Beltline in Grant Park and Ormewood Park

Created August 2026

A Community in Need: If you've walked or rolled the newly opened Beltline Southeast Trail, you've probably noticed Trestletree Village Apartments spanning two clusters in Grant Park and Ormewood Park. We joined South Atlantans for Neighborhood Development in support of this project preserving and adding new homes on the Beltline!

Fix Zoning 2.0

Created February 2026; ongoing

Atlanta's Department of City Planning thinks its Zoning 2.0 rewrite is ready to be passed. They've proposed a massive overhaul in the legal text behind our city's zoning, but it's not going to make it easier to build housing! This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape our city and reverse our housing crisis.

Say Yes to Senior Housing in Kirkwood

Created September 2025

The Kirkwood supportive housing proposal was approved after our campaign to organize neighbors at the NPU, City Planning and Citizen Zoning Review Board meetings. Thank you for your support!

Don’t Let Tree Protections Kill Housing Affordability!

Created April 2025

Having a healthy tree canopy doesn’t have to come at the expense of housing affordability! The City of Atlanta rewrote its Tree Protection Ordinance, and Abundant Housing Atlanta joined HouseATL and others in calling for revisions to the new ordinance to balance tree canopy and inclusive development.

Support Housing on the Beltline at Amsterdam Walk!

Created March 2025

We pushed City Council at all stages of the rezoning process, through the final approval of new homes and businesses on the Beltline at Amsterdam Walk. A new mixed-use development is coming in 2028 along the Beltline next to Piedmont Park, in the Virginia-Highland and Morningside-Lenox neighborhoods.

Say NO to New Restrictive Household Definitions

Created January 2025

The Mayor's office of planning proposed a new definition of "household" which would halve the number of unrelated people who are legally allowed to live together. Currently up to 6 unrelated roommates can live together in a single home or apartment. Mayor Dickens' administration's proposal reduces that to only 3. This change would make life tremendously harder for thousands of Atlantans who rely on splitting rent with roommates to afford housing.

How we work

Reform the rules

Back zoning reform and streamlined permitting so more homes are legal to build, especially near transit and jobs.

Educate & engage

Turn out residents to the meetings that matter and make it easy to take a pro-housing position on local projects.

Build partnerships

Work with neighbors, labor, faith groups, and builders toward a shared abundant-housing agenda.
